My prayer for this album is that you receive as much as I have from these hymns. They are very personal, coming to me in my darkest hours, holding and lifting me as I have struggled little by little toward the Light. Yet the more I walk the more I see that our individual spiritual journeys, while unique are also the same. May these hymns bless you as they have blessed me.
My second prayer is that the spirit of these hymns transcend the devil in the details. I have friends who have difficulty with the word God or Christ, and other friends will find my sanctification of nature sacrilegious. Some who relate to the divine feminine will be turned away by her invocation as Mary and others will be totally alienated from Her in any form. I too have been in all these places.
My evolutionary journey has brought me to my own synthesis and whatever the words they are only pointers toward the experience: The experience of being mothered by the earth and instructed by the moon; the experience of meeting Christ in the form of Jesus but also in the light/energy/consciouness of the sun and in the love each of us has inside of us.
Our common ground is our home, this earth in the midst of the unfathomable comsos. The Light of the Divine is evident within and throughout creation, in every unfurling moment of the cosmos and our lives. It is this Presence, fully revealed that will ultimately reunite us. So I invite you to join me in affirming heaven on earth, our evolutionary moment and the presence of the Creator in the midst of Creation. Once we recognize this, we can being to heal.
These hymns are part of an ancient shamanic tradition coming out of the rainforests of Brazil. They are "received" from the Astral and they carry healing vibrations and an image of truth. I believe such hymns are an expression of the ongoing creativity of the Universe as it seeks to open us to the exquisite sensitivities inherent with us. It is the awakening of the sensitivities of the heart that will enable us to respond to our moment in history. The old paradigm cannot hold us anymore. We must give birth to the new in order to proceed.
The title of the album Light of the Forest, refers to all the sacred forests of the earth, with a special bow to the mother of forest, the great rain forest of South America. The forest is a place of mystery and life, of cathedral trees and mushroom fairy rings, of serene pools and babbling brooks, of bird song and deep silence watching. There is a great Light to be found there, both in the forest's natural radiance and in the way it is harmonized. When we learn to commune with this light we will find ourselves back in the Garden of Eden.
The Light of the Forest also refers to the light of the forest surrounding my home at the Earthwalk Center. I have been totally enchanted by this forrest and we have developed and exquisite bond between us. Each change of the hours and the seasons, brings a new feast for the soul. It is from this alchemy of Nature's radiance that my eyes and my heart are opened together and my being gives rise to song.
In the name of Life, Light and Love, I celebrate us all and pray for our continued awakenings.
